TEMPO.CO, Timika - Timika Immigration Office reported that as of now, at least 15 foreign workers have left PT Freeport and other sub-contractor offices to go back to their respective countries.
Head of Immigration Communication Section at Timika Immigration Office Dede Sulaiman in Timika on Saturday said that those workers are mostly from Australia and the United States.
"Those 115 workers who have returned also include their families. They are mostly workers at PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Redpath, PT RUC and PT JDA," Dede said.
The Timika Immigration reminded PT. Freeport and its sub-contractor companies to always update the reduction of the number of foreign workers following the stopping of PT. Freeport operation since mid January 2017.
As of now, there are more than 700 foreign workers working in Timika, including those working at PT Freeport and its sub-contractor companies.
