TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Heru Irvansyah, an economist from PT BNI Securities, projects the rupiah will fluctuate in accordance with inflation and trade balance data released by the Central Statistics Agency today.
"The market is still looking and waiting for the development of economic data before accumulating rupiah-denominated assets," Heru told Tempo.
The market, Heru said, is also waiting to see how President Joko Widodo will react on the conflict between the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Police. The market is hoping the president to take a firm stance, so that the feud will not drag on and eventually lead to political uncertainty.
"Today, the rupiah will move between Rp12,480 to Rp12,670 per US dollar," Heru projected.
